Dear Mr. Prseident,

There have been so many instances, where our juduciary has failed misrebaly. Jessica Lal's case is also one of them. All these instances have made me think that I'll make my chidlern either live in some other country or make them a politician, coz it's a well known fact, if you are a politician or their relatives, you can do away with any kind of crime. I also wonder that what is the use (please excuse my harsh langauage) of having educated people on top posts like in police, courts and also head of the nation, when they all turn a blind eye to the injustice meted out, daily, to common man. Hope that we as a educated lot and as a nation will do something.

Today (25/2/2006), it has come in the Times of India in "Mattoo verdict put CBI in dock". This is the famous rape case of Priyadarshini Mattoo His excellency, Judge Thareja has to say " Though I know that he is the man who committed the crime, I acquit him. giving him the benefit of doubt". With such precedents, one really wonders what is in store for the future.

Today the country is in the "Ramg De Basanti" mode. In the well known movie, the protagonists act after one of their own gets killed. As mentioned in the original post "Today it is Jessica(or Mattoo), tommorow, it could be you, your close friend, your fiancee, your own sister". The movie is a "hit" and has been made "tax" free for the cause that it espouses. The choice seems clear-either act or be "hit" or have such "tax"ing experiences in the future. This "Show me the man and I shall show you the law" kind of justice has made the ordinary citizen extremely inseucre and kind of apprehensive. God alone knows where we are headed for.

First, I thank TOI though whom I came to know about this blog. Second, I thank the creator of this blog. I am feeling upset due to the acquittal of murderers. I think we need people in the Police Force who should be like Nayak, the so called 'encounter specialist' for murdering such murderers. The Police can use them where they fail to establish conviction before the Court in respect of such kind of murderers. So I want to appeal to the Home Minister to set up such secret police force which act for such type of murderers.. Thanks.as 'encounter force'

We read, we report, we discuss, we express anger, blame the system, media plays the story as the flavour of the and then everyone goes about living their own lives. Or rather give in….. refuse to give in, this is one chance when we can stand up for justice. As citizens what we can do in our capacity is to at least form support groups and appeal to the President.

Is this the youth of our country? If there would have been a matter of something religious we would have seen teeming number of people on the streets. Isnt this a matter of concern that the WORLD'S LARGEST DEMOCRACY is functioning this way. This incident is a blow to our judiciary and our system of governance. President Bush says that India is a great democracy, probably he is unaware about this inhumane incident that has taken place. Did Jessica Lal's family appeal to the court for such a verdict? Our country will go to dogs one day like this. We are forgetting the achievents of our great freedom fighters and all those who made these rules. We must join hands and fight for this cause. It will give momentum to the many cases lying pending due to lack of belief in the judicial system of india. JAI HIND

this case is as sickeing as nitish katara's, godhra riots and others. although knowing who is involved, police and judiciary are busy finding (read destroying) the evidence, and finally come up with what a conclusion !
what more evidence is required than the criminal background and historical evidence?
the indian police & judicial system sucks on the behest of political-criminal nexus.

First of all accept my sincer thanks for arranging and giving people like me a forum to vent out our feelings. Now it is right time for the judiciary to think upon the witness system, giving them proper security and protection. Secondly, I personally feel that Hon'ble Judge hearing cases of such nature must not depend solely on eyewitnessess and must apply his prudent and common sense looking into the circumstantial evidences too before passing any order of acquittal specially in murder case.

As in the case of dying declaration, it is generally believed that a person on death bed can not tell a lie and proper weightage is given to a such statement. Similarly, while recording the statement of a witness it must be ensured that such statement is recorded in the presence of a megistrate or any senior police officer not below the rank of an assistant police commissioner so that the witness should not turn hostile later on in the court. It is more important because in the initial stage of filing a report and calling key witnesses to record their statements, every one will speaks out just truth and his memories will also be a fresh. He can tell even the minute details of the case.

So once again I suggest that every efforts must be done and effective measures be taken to see that witnesses should not turn hostile and for such persons severe punishment be provided as a deterrant.

Thanks

Mr. President,

There should be a law in the country, where when its obvious that the judicial system and police has failed, people should be allowed to go ahead and bring the culprits to book, may be kill them or leave them in a condition where they would yearn for death the rest of their lives.

Since the incident can happen to anyone, and culprits must have got emboldened by the nasty court verdict, its like a self defense for all of the citizens of our great country to finish off with these scoundrels, so that it doesn't ever repeat again. Their arrogance is humiliating to the entire nation.

It is also essential that the judges and police also be brought to book. It will be a waste of precious resources if we simply arrest them and feed them in jails. Their heads need to be loaded with a few bullets so that they wont even think of repeating the offence again. I know i would be punished if i do that. What a judicial system. What a shame!

Sameer.

I dont know about the case exactly, but sumthing should be done about it. This definitely is not good at all...by the way it is not a case in which a due was not paid on time...or sumthing like that. Its a matter of life...life of a young girl...life that had a future.

Dear Mr.President,

I realy hope that you've had the chance to eatch 'Rang De Basanti' - with all the people around, including me, believing that the country is in the RDB mode right now.. the outcry and the public outrage has been absolutely the same.. but I ask you just one question.. Do we really need to end it the way the outcry ended in the movie.. will it require someone to go and KILL MANU SHARMA before we realise what was needful?? I hope you do not desire that to happen..kindly take this plea seriously.. please do something about this situation.. before it's too late...we love this country and we want to be proud of it.. lets not let the trash spoil the beauty of our motherland!
Please give us a chance to say thanks!

Dear Mr President,

The verdict in Jessica's case has turned out to be "Justice Delayed and Denied". To add insult to injury, Mr SL Bhayana who delivered this 'Bhayanak verdict' is being promoted to High Court. The timing of the verdict and his promotion has a stink of Quid-Pro-Quo arrangement between the accused and the judge.

The verdict may spell serious consequences by way of encouraging people to settle scores themselves instead of approaching the courts of law

Please exercise your authority to ensure that the judge, police and the accused do not get away with it. Justice for Jessica must be ensured inorder to have the people's faith in the legal process in this country re-established.

your's sincerely

iamforjustice
