Jessica appeal to Mr. Kalam

Dear President Kalam,

This is a request letter on behalf of the people of India. We seek your help for the murder trial of Jessica Lal. Yes, Jessica Lal was a regular middle class girl trying to establish a career, like the millions of us. All she wanted was a typical middle class professional life. But alas, it was not to be so, and her life was snuffed within minutes by a bullet fired by a lustful lout belonging to one of those nouveau rich families, the worst lot of the present indian society, what we call - modern India trash.

But the case outcome has been shocking. Everone of us inclusive of judge Bhayana, knows who are the culprits. Indians have always prided that with corruption all around, the judiciary in India is not yet corrupt and is independent from pressures, political or monetary. This case will change that forever.

I appeal to all fellow indians to sign on this letter. And yes your remarks too. The more signature's means more support. Your signature is precious. Let us stand united. Please VOTE & pass it on to your friends for their vote & signature

It is pathetic and outright disgusting. The case needs to be reopened. It would be mockery of the judicial system if the accused are allowed to go scot free.

This is a request to the president to deal with this case in a more diligent and transperant manner. Yes there are many such cases happening in many parts of India everyday and if not, thats what Indians like me living outside India think. It would be a good starting with this case (because its got the media attention)to ensure the Indians like us who have lost faith in the judicial system of the country that it exists and is fair.
These rich perverts do not deserve to be forgiven. They should be hanged till death.

Somehow this incidence of Jessica lal just simply shaken everyone. Rather it fortified my believe that we need to radically change our judiciary system otherwise it would be difficult to convince our people to belive on our country.

It is a yet another false fated and faulty India Shining campaign

I feel ashamed to be a part of the society where the criminals are moving around freely and the system that is supposed to put order in the society has been systemetically rendered helpless. Are we that weak --- no india is STRONG. We must get together and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice and the system is overhauled. The guilty - whoever they may be - even the top policemen should be taken to task. Is the indian police so culpable? Is this my India that is bringing the rest of the world to its feet ... and is supposed to be MAHAAN????

Thanks to the media that the matter has aroused some people. My heart goes for Jessica's kith and kin... . I feel like crying ....

Hi

I feel it's just not the indian judiciary to be blamed. The police is to be blamed as well. Further, the fact that the eyewitnesses turned hostile is an example of the extent to which the indian society is slowly starting to rot.
However, this is not the first time this has happened. Have we all forgotten the famous BMW case in Delhi where the killer he walked free due to his father's money?
However it is high time we all raise our voice against this because god fobid, but tomorrow we might be at the receiving end of all this.

In the wakes of Unspeakble crimes ..general people of Indian have lost faith in Indian Judiciary... Tell us now where to go!!
What good is the Judiciary when it finds itself helpless in the wake of tempered and hostile evidences.

And finds itself helpless in imparting Justice...

Outcomes are moulded in the closed living rooms of the people in political power...

What will become of India in the near future is anybodies' guess...

Dear Mr President,

The Jessica Lal case judgement is an obvious case of miscarriage of justice. When this happens the Judiciary cannot preside knowing full well that the process of law to implement justice is sometimes flawed. We would expect then the Judge in the case to pass strictures on the investigating authorities or whoever and/or find a method to ensure that justice is done. Otherwise people with money and influence, translated to the rich, powerful and the politically connected will continue to make a mockery of our judicial system. Would the arbiters and dispensers of Justice in free India prefer to be made a fool of and thus render themselves progressively irrelevant. The time has come for the Judiciary to look at itself and remove itself from the shackles of a centuries old system which has refused to reform itself as evident from the Jessica Lal & numerous similar cases. Apart from justice to Jessica Lal and her family, this case is a symbol of how India treats an independent woman in today's India and guarantees her freedom in thought, word and deed.

so its high time we be 'UNITED' in fighting the crime & criminals. i solely agree with Abhishek who said that may be we will have to follow RANG DE BASANTI funda . so if this is the legacy is passed on to us then we strongly refuse to accept it.

Just think it over once. My blood boils like anything....doesn't URS?????????? Hopefully Justice will Prevail!!!

It is indeed sad to see the plight of Judiciary decision in our country. This is another of case where the high profile and rich are let go because they are rich and powerful. Is this what we call equality? Such kind of incidents will further make people lose trust in the judiciary. Don’t let India become a place where one can get away with crimes like murder. I strongly feel that the case needs to reopened and examined by a responsible independent authority.

Atleast i always had faith on our juidicary system. Still i am not making comments over it. I havent right.
But its really a shame day for all of us indians. when everyone know who is the accused in jessica lal case. Everyone knows how and why she was shotted by a bully named "Manu Sharma".

Now delhi police, "with you for you always", yeah right delhi police is always there for manu sharma. they manipulated with entire case, prosecution and everyone and everything which can turn case against the accuseds.

Now he is free to do any thing. He can go in any night club , ask for whisky and shot some other jessica lal.

He have right to do anything we cant set him free because he is a son of big politician or bcs his father have big contacts.

As an indian we all have right for justice. We cant bear it, how can somo-one like manu sharma will destroy our soceity. We love India. We love our culture. We respect womans and more we love our generation who atleast trying to do better things in different fields just for profession.

Its our government policy that if someone following his rules " Its govt. of india rule that : you cant serve alcohols after a fix time. :: and what happened , jessica did same but what she got a bullet in her eyes, she lost her life because she followed the rules crafted by our own government & our government isnt able to defend our fellows. Shame for all of us."

Its just a simple request : To Honurable President to show his interest and ask authorities to take some action.

or that day isnt far when again some woman will appear in court premishes and shot accused bcs of delay in justice or justice isnt enough. It happened earlier in Nagpur it can happend every where in country if govt. isnt able to provide security to its citizens.

Its all very well to say that people like Shayan Munshi and other witnesses that turned hostile should be brought to book, are cowards etc. etc., but i have heard first hand accounts of people like Manu Sharma and vikas yadav not just threatening physical harm on those who mess with them, but actually going through with it...cases of picking up a household's women, thrashing the men, kidnapping and even murder in the towns their families rule over(and generally these incidents dont even make the news cause people are just too scared to report)....This shows complete disregard of the law of the country and the utter lawlessness in pockets of states such as u.p., haryana and bihar(other states are not exempt) where supression and abuse are a way of life, esp. for the less priveleged. We have to do something(don't know how or what....the Rang De Basanti scenario seems attractive but not legal or practical...BUT WE'VE GOT TO WAKE UP, JOIN HANDS AND DO SOMETHING!!!)THIS BLOG IS A GOOD STARTING POINT TO ORGANISE A CAMPAIGN TO BRING THE GUILTY TO BOOK.. if we dont do anything, no one will...jessica lal will become another statistic...more women will be picked-up, raped and murdered by the spoilt , rich, unstable and sick sons of influential goons(politicians)!!!

Not as a president bound by the insensitive'n mundane set of protcols, but as a righteous, enlightened individual that we think of u, please come out with some feelings in this media(which is selective too) supported campaign for a just cause !
The shameful and blatant delivery of justice(sic) that has highlighted the HOAX of the democratic and 'social equity' system of our nation in this high-profile case (when innumerable cases of the like go unnoticed) should at least pinch the conscience of the so-called leaders of our nation.
When some privileged individuals are treated as MORE EQUAL than other mortals and the country boasts of being the biggest democracy, its a very pungent and nauseating feeling being citizen of such country !
When the judicial system which is impotent surrendering to the shackles of insensitive and inhumane procedures, what sort of 'justice' are we talking of?
This case is a very bad OMEN for the country, and if not addressed in right earnest, we sure'll be going to dogs soon, if we havent by now !
Shame India, shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I being a 51 years lady request you to do the Justice. I am simply ashamed of Indian judiciary. This would be mockery of the Judicial system if Jassica family do not get the justice. I know justice delayed is justice denied but is this the way?? Criminals are moving around freely just because they are politically well connected & rich?? Has Human's life become so cheap that it can be snatched away by a few rich street archins at their whims & fancy?? And there will be no justice?? Instead of, our law & order is indirectly protecting them?? This is the reason, people have lost their faith from Police. if the root is corrupted how general people will survive??I am thankful to HC that it stepped in & reopening the case.

Hon'able President, I have got full faith on you. I trust you & I am sure, Jassica's family will get justice & the accused would be punsihed. If possible let them be hanged till death so that in future no one will play with some one's life.

Hello Indians,

I think the time for revolution has come. A revolution of a different kind!!! wherein people drag & beat the corrupt politicians/officials in public ie drag them to the roads & beat them so that they do not dare to be corrupt. All corrupt politicians, police officers, government officials etc deserve this treatment. One this starts in one place & the newspaper/news channel report it & publicise it & show picture of politicians/officials being beaten on TV & give importance to it... a revolution will begin throughout India... This will create a fear among all the corrupts.... & definately help in reducing corruption. Todays youths & small political parties need to take this approach. Even if a single example (say by beating a corrupt minister in public) is set & given mass publicity ... i feel a revolution will definately be started in all states & through out India.

Daily we will hear & read news of corrupt politicians/officials being beaten up & this will encourage people to fight corruption

Definately the media has to play a very big role & I hope the young reporters in the media will take up the responsibilty to give publicity.

Jai Hind

What really ashames me is that as an Indian I have to follow a judiciary system which has always considered itself as the guardian of our rights and had bragged about it to the extent of handing out sentences to people (maybe innocent ) whom it considered to have done contempt of court.

When I reflect on my life now I feel that I have wasted my youth in protecting the borders of this coutry, where people like the aquitted and the hostile witnesses of the case live. It's time now that as responsible citizens of this country, instead of letting a bunch of eunachs (police & judiciary) be reponsible for uphelding our rights, we take the course of action in out hands...

WE NEED PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING TO MEET OUT JUSTICE AT THE SPOT WHERE CRIME IS COMMITIED... WE NEED "THE JUDGE,THE JURY,THE EXECUTIONER " AMONGST US. THAT WILL BE THE REVOLUTION WHICH THIS COUNTRY NOW DEMANDS SO AS TO CLEANSE ITSELF OF GARBAGE LIKE THE NOUVEAU SCUMS WHO SHOT JESSICA LAL.

I read all the comments but could not find any practical way to wake the judiciary and the Government. We should do something!
1.Dharna or Morcha
2.Inundating the President and PM's letterbox,
3. Sending money to Times of India to give a full page Ad condemning the judgement and urging the government to frame a law to suspend the policement who cannot do justice to their jobs.
I think the idea of giving full page Ads in the leading newspapers is a good idea provided the newspapaers give a substantial discount for this worthy cause.
Ordinary people like us can easily send money for any cause so that they are spared to give their time and effort for a cause like this.

Dear All,

We have to realise our voice in a big way!!

Make your Blogs ... Spread the E-Mails to all your contacts and ask them to forward to everyone!

We dont want to revolutionize the whole system but if we feel that something 'Right' is missing .... We have to tell every1 to stand together ..!!

Make blogs like this ... SHOW THE PUNCH THE INDIAN YOUTH HAS.

TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM .... WE WILL HAVE TO CHANGE OURSELF... WE HAVE TO PROMISE AMONG US THAT WE STAND TOGETHER AT THIS UNJUSTICE.

IT COULD HAPPEN TO ME ... COULD HAPPEN TO ANY1 OF US.... DO IT NOW OR ..... JUST WAIT FOR ANOTHER "JESSICA TO DIE"

SPREAD THE WORDS "VANDE MATRAM"

There is a gender bias and the law should always be gender neutral and should only focus on punishing the criminal but here the theory is proving true which is POLITICIZATION of CRIMINALS.

So please punish the criminal at the earliest before he escapes from the realm of law.

It was in the seventh grade when I was first introduced to the Indian Constitution and its many aspects. One of the most important aspects of the constitution was the notion of equality of all men especially in the eyes of law. Unfortunately that ideal has taken a beating with the acquittal of Manu Sharma. Dear Mr President, this case should be retried not only because the acquittal denied Jessica Lal justice, but also because it would prevent anarchy in this country with people trying to "deliver" justice the "Rang De Basanti" way.

It is really shamefull for the Indian Democracy that the law enforcement agencies are regularly becoming slaves in the hands of the rich and powerfull. If it is continue like this then A day is not that far when common people will take the law in there hands to get the justice. It is shamefull to all the present at the time of murder to turn a blind eye, they always forget that one day something of that nature can happen with them also. I still strongly beleive that a humble person like you at that authority level you can make a change , can make people feel that all is not lost and we still can hope for justice. In case Jessica Lal's murderers and their harbourers escape without punishment...this would amount to the biggest blow to the Indian
Judicial system, and a lot of people like me will write it off for good.

That the law is an ass,one has suspected for while now.If the perpetrators of this cold blooded murder walk free...it would only confirm every law abiding citizens' worst fear, that the indian criminal justice system is not only a cruel joke but a gigantic farce palyed out on every law the law abiding citizen of this once great country. And the words "Equality before the law"enshrined in our constitution by our founding fathers are just that.Words.

Dear Mr,President
There are two great injustices that can befall a man.One is to punish him for something he did'nt do.The other is to let him get away with doing something he knows is wrong"

Sir,I will not pretend even for a minute that this will be easy. But,we, the citizens feel very strongly that if anyone in this country can stop this gross miscarriage of justice,it is you.

After the Jessica Lal verdict I feel ashamed to call myself an Indian. Our country is not a democracy; it is the planet's biggest HYPOCRACY.

Indian politicians and their "corrupt" ways have held India back from developing as a nation not only for the last 58 years but still continue to hold back development through their corrupt politicians and corrupt bureaucracy. We have no infrastructure because we have corrupt governance or no governance at all levels: city, state or national level.

The police at all levels in every village, town and city is totally corrupt...and the worst, and most glaring example, is in Delhi and the NCR. The police higher ups should all be sacked. Their ill-begotten gains should be investigated.

INDIA IS THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WHERE EVERY CITIZEN HAS HAD TO BECOME A LAW BREAKER because of the corruption at every aspect of daily life.

ARE YOU PROUD TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF SUCH A CORRUPT NATION?

This nation needs an independent nationwide CITIZEN "MONITORED AND CONTROLLED" POLICE AND JUDICIARY SYSTEM COMPLETELY FREE OF INTERFERENCE BY THE CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND BUREAUCRATS AND FROM FAMILIES LIKE THE SHARMAS AND YADAVS WHO USE THEIR ILL-GOTTEN WEALTH TO CORRUPT THE POLICE & JUDICIARY AND INTIMIDATE CITIZENS WHO ARE ORDINARILY HONEST AND LAW ABIDING.

If you take nothing short of revolutionary action to bring the known killers of Jessica to get their "well deserved" DEATH SENTENCE, as well as those responsible for corrupting the police, intimidating witnesses, paying payoffs in the judiciary, then ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT YOU ARE NOT THE PRESIDENT INDIA CAN BE PROUD OF BUT RATHER ASHAMED OF and are, perhaps, little better than the SHARMAS and the YADAVS responsible for this travesty of justice.

MR. PRESIDENT:
ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE US PROUD? OR ASHAMED?

It is a shocking that the judge ignored the circumstantial evidence and gave his acquittal orders mearly on the basis of eyewitnesses and police reports when he very well knows that the men involved in the case are very influential and politically powerful ones and that all the keywitnesses can be bought and police can be bribed to manipulate the reports to suit them. He failed to apply his mind miserably. It is disgusting. Now there is a ray of some hope when the Hon'bel High Court has intervened in the matter just by seeing newspapers reports and media coverage of the case and order the Delhi Police to submit its report. It is specially very important when the family lost all hopes and decided not to appeal in a high court. All my appreciations go to the Hob'ble Judges who took this initiative. I can not afford to ignore the role of media and it is only media that high lighted the whole issue and arranging debates. The judiciary must send a strong signal that powerful and influential can not go scotfree after committing a crime like this. We are all with the family and would like to appeal the Hon'be High Court to retry the case without calling the witnesses again and decide the case on the basis of circumstantial evidences alone.

No one killed Jessica: Did she commit suicide!

Jessica's case highlights the dismal picture of our justice delivery system. People have already lost faith in the parliament/ legislature, which is seen to be represented by the netas a.k.a. criminals/ mafia lords and in the executive which symbolizes the den of corruption and nepotism. And now people will even look askance at the judiciary. This will have a far reaching effect on the psyche of the youth who are already disillusioned. It will make them realise that money and muscle power is more important than honesty and integrity. Such judicial pronouncements and a few months back, the murders of IIT engineer Satyendra Dubey and Indian Oil engineer and IIM Lucknow graduate B Manjunathan, by the mafia create a cynicism among the youth who are young and creative and want to do a lot for the nation. The message is loud and clear- money and power can buy any thing and hence do any thing to get money and power.

What every one would like to know is who killed Jessica. If the accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence, is there any judicial remedy that the police are held accountable for the lapse or the case is handed over to the CBI or some judicial committee for a thorough probe. Moreover, I do not know if there is any thing like circumstantial evidence. A civilized society should ensure that the law of the land is equally applicable to all regardless of one’s power or position. Who does not know about the pestilence of corruption in our police force? Further, can any witness dare to come forward when the accused are well known criminals and high and mighty. We have to find a way out to impart justice.

There are rumours afloat that Daud Ibrahim is planning to come back to his motherland India. Daud knows that India is a safe haven for criminals and here he will have a gala time enjoying all comforts and luxuries to rejuvenate his fiefdom. He is confident that with our police force at his service and CBI so competent, he will go scot- free after a few years in jail. This will be a diplomatic feat of our country and also for Gen Musharraf, who will kill two birds with one stone. He will oblige President Bush and ask for Kashmir as his return gift.

I have a few lines composed in memory of Jessica.

I know not her in person,
I just see her wild innocent smile
And an angelic vivacious face
What a lively person she was!
Yet in her youth bubbling with zest
She was a symbol of what a lass aspires for
She was hope and liveliness personified.
Who knows what she would have been
The candle was put out before it lighted.
One rowdy vagabond just barges in
And inebriated with a shot or two
Extincts her life with impunity.
I know we cannot see her back
Alive and smiling.
What we can do for the peace of
The departed soul of the fairy.
Raise our voice in the din and den of
Debased pandemonium.
She is beackoning to us
To fight for justice
And bring the guilty to the book.

Once again, the chinks in the Indian judiciary are exposed. For immediate restoration of public faith, the concerned authorities must order retrial on the grounds that so many witnesses have turned hostile. The nabbed suspects must be put in custody without bail AND witnesses must be given special protection. The concerned police officers must be removed from the area and be punished within the framework of the policy. THEY MUST DO WHATEVER IS POSSIBLE TO SEND A LOUD AND CLEAR SIGNAL TO THIS 'INDIAN TRASH' THAT SUCH BEHAVIOUR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ANY MORE! As a permanent policy shift, the Police Commission should be made INDEPENDENT like the Election Commission and taken out from under these disgusting 'ruling trash class.' Make them accountable, and make them pay. IF NOT THEM, WHO ELSE? IF NOT NOW, WHEN ELSE? These damned politicians always hide behind 'public mandates' so let's give them one.

Don't confine this to only Jessica case. This is high time Indian youth must wake up and break the nexus between criminals, Police and Public prosecutors or else the Judicial system is on the verge of collapse. I am presently a NRI but I have seen cases in Delhi where the Police leaks out the residence telephine nos. of the witnesses to the criminals to intimidate them.
I don't see India still a free country the only difference is the Masters have changed. Before 1947 it was British and now it is the Politicians and Bureaucrats who are looting the country under the garb of democracy. We required only one 'Gandhi' to get rid of British but now we may require many more 'Gandhis' to get rid of our present looters.

1. Manu Sharma and his friends should be given severest punishment in our law books.
2. The police officer and the prosecuting officer may also be taken to task by not investigating the case properly and then not presenting it in the court properly.
3. I am ashamed on our legal system in which it takes 8 years for an open and shut case to be heard. How can a witness stay sane and bear the threats to himself and his family. No wander important witnesses turned hostile.

4 I also request a law in which all cases, specially these type of cases which are important for society, are decided in a time bound manner. This will ensure proper justice as we know justice delayed is justice denied. But in this case justice has been denied to people of India even after 8 years of trials.
5 President please do something to save this society. You are the only sane person in this country who can understand pain for loss a life.

Even words like shock and disbelief cannot describe feelings that most of us must have felt on knowing that the culprits were let free in broad day light at the mere pretext of not having enough evidence. Has our judicial system reached such a stalemate or has the power of money gone so beyond even to shut eyes of the witenesses?. I wonder if the live witnesses to the incident are insecured or have just played it unethical.

Let us all unite and take the case to a higher level where an appropriate justice is done, justice which is inline with our democracy and principles.

My all sympathies with Jessica's family and relatives and I really hope Manu and Co. soon gets to the right door.

I felt devastated the day the judgement on the already known murderer came. Has Indan society suck so low? Nothing to wonder! With the heinous caste system well in place, and merit dethronhed, the rich and the powerful can have their way. Who are the police? Who are the judges? Who are the 'moral' preceptors and 'Godmen'? Members of the same selfish, caste-riden, superstitious, racist and amoral Indians. How long can we tolerate this? Arise, youth of India, arise! Bring down the bastille!

This is what the key witness had to say when questioned by a tv journalist about his turning hostile during the course of litigation... "it happened so many years ago, i have moved on. There's no point in digging dirt, I was 19yrs old at that time and wasnt even supposed to be there..."
Well, well, well... what a great justification ! One wonders if Mr. Munshi's stance would have been any differnt had the victim been his real sister.

Shame on all such chicken hearted people.

Dear Mr.President,
I am more than sure that this dirty lot of politicians made a blunder and they made you a president because they were thinking that you would be a puppet but it didn't happen that way so I am pretty sure that you wouldn't be getting second term in this so called office of the first person of this so called great country.......AND YOU KNOW THAT,I am sure about it.
Mr.President do not think and do not consult anybody just call chief justice of the supreme court and tell him to take personal interest and deliver the justice and catch all those criminals which we all know, dont give them life imprisonment, hang them in india gate lawns and make sure that all TV channels telecast it live( I am really frustrated).
Sir ITS YOU AND ONLY YOU WHO CAN DO SOMETHING.
just do it
Kind regards
Raman

My sympathies to Sabrina,
I wish I could share your grief. I am more than sure that you are more civilized person than myself because if it was me I would definitely not allow that man to go unpunished,If system doesn't get me justice I have to get it myself If he can shoot my dear one why cant I shoot him.Yeah I know that police of ours would make sure that I get maximum punishment in that scenario because I can not feed it like them.
I am sorry Sabrina but my heart is with you and your father.

Today,it was Jessica Lal...tomorrow it could be you or a loved one. Will we be showing the same kind of indifference then.Self and society are not mutually exclusive.

Today,Indian society is turning into a world with amnesia:everything important seems to have been forgotten.Trust, honour and loyalty
are words that have little meaning today
The new ethic seems to be."If its not convenient I won't make the effort. If its not beneficial right now, I'm not interested:and if its not as advantageous to me today as when I made the promise,I wont honour my commitments"

When 50 percent of those eligible to vote don't,when survey after survey points out that honesty does'nt necessarily bring economic rewards, the time has come to think about where we are going as a country.

Toady, the society's only barometer for success is money. We have no time for things that are important. We judge someone's worth by what we see on the outside.we envy people who achieve success without thinking about what they did to earn it.

Where are our heroes-people we can admire not only for their acievements but also for their noble qualities

What India lacks today is not just investment capital-but character. We don't need a new Indutrial policy. We need more backbone.

Mr President,It is often said that a fish rots from its head or the neck of a bottle(bottleneck) is always at the top.our politicians ,unfortunately are more caricature than character, passive and distant, removed from reality, pontificating platitudes in TV studios.

We all know that nothing worth achieving is easily attained. As John Kennedy said about the Appolo programme to send men to the moon."We do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard"

It is now wholly upto you,Mr President to ensure that the perpetrators of this crime do not go unpunished. It is with you that the faith of every law abiding citizen of this country rests.

This traversity of justice needs to be corrected. The message needs to go loud and clear to every criminal that the law of the land shall prevail and no criminal act will go unpunished.

Living by principles may ask us to risk it all,our careers, fortune, material possessions prestige-for the sake of what is right nd true over what is expedient and easy.

Mr President,Our hopes rest with you.

The legal system is pathetic and crippled, what it says is that if you are wronged, go get a gun and avenge thyself. Rest assured if you kill enough the Indian state would do nothing against you. The message is well taken, its a jungle raj, kill or be killed.
You have to belong to a certain caste or group to be felt valuable by the state. If you are part of the middle class urban entity, you are expendible. You are not in enough numbers to give enough votes to form governments. But ofcourse you are expected to pay your taxes and an occasional bribe too. And to say it is this very middle class that is busting its asses off to get foriegn exchange for this country, and on the shoulders of this class our not so great leaders are able to raise their 80-so IQ heads in the world community.
I hope I am wrong, but I am angry and I think that this anger is justified. Do you concur Mr. President?

We are citizens of a nation were we hold demonstrations against Gaw(Cow) hatya, for allowing illegal constructions etc but when an innocent citizen is murdered it is just another headline. No demonstrations are held because nobody cares as it doesn't effect them.We have not seen any high profile accused being sentenced,be it a corruption case or murder. The rich and powerful always get away with it.
My suggestion is that if this is going to be the outcome of such cases then why hold a trial. It will save time, energy and money of the state, accused and the victims family.
I request The Indian Express to plan a demonstration/start a movement so that Jessica's family gets justice. You people start collecting funds when Tsunami hits our country.I think this is worse.

crying for justice and the entire nation needs that
justice. Every crimical let go, will give birth to a

society which shall be dictated by criminals? a
society where the power of designation if more
important than life itself?

I request the Preseident to reopen and reinvestigate
the Jessica Lal case and this time with a more
competent judiciary and police. The goverenment should
provide protection to those who may otherwise kneel
down to pressure and threats, not delay the case by

I think its high time that the public of this country raised its voice. The corrupt system in this country is not going to correct itself. We cannot let these corrupt politicians and police think that the public has short term memory and will forget about this issue. India is a democracy but the past years have been a mockery of democracy beacuse people choose to think that they cannot do anything. I as an Indian take proud in the fact that people of this country are getting together for a cause. A generation truly has awakened.
Not only does this case need a reopening but the people who have aided the accused in any way, including the concerned forensic and police officers, should be given a very harsh punishment and this case should set precendent for future cases. This would act as a deterrant for not only the criminals but also their aides in future.

Our police force and judiciary apparently do not feel the need for even a veneer of honesty. An open-and-shut case such as Jessica Lal's drags on for years, waiting for most of her family to die, and the witnesses to turn hostile. But more devastating than the corruption of the system is the failure of the civilians to rally round the victim of crime- When other citizens who may very well be in Jesica's position tomorrow, walk away and refuse to testify,- it is their own skin they are laying bare for the next shot.

Hi.. I think this is a commendable effort and an even commendable response to this is evident on the streets today.
I stand for justice and right and I think this case needs more than just a glance from the people who call themselves the protectors of law and order in this country. It will be a matter of shame and remorse if we let the guilty go Scot free.
I am a daughter of a renowned advocate and am a freelance journalist myself.. and I although believe in the power of the media, I also know this judicial system and its crazy ways of avoiding the truth.. it's a wish and a prayer that this effort gets paid off and all those who're responsible for Jessica's tragic end are brought to book.
ALL THE BEST.. to this generation.. who's set out to rebel against this system that sucks!

Dear President,

Please take note of this appeal. This has the seeds in it to become something bigger.

We, as young citizens of India, would not take injustices with indifference anymore.

One of these days you would find in us a Maoist or a social revolutionary if the system is not put into place.

Thanks!
Tarun

we as cynical, dormant indians keep on sayin that the system is bad n needs to be changed.now is the time when the citizens shud rise n stand against injustice.law does not mean that blind rules n regulations will allow a criminal to go scot free just coz the rulebook demands evidence.justice is the right which not even god can deny.criminals like manu sharma are a big black spot and a mockery of not just our system but of the sentiments and faith of ordinary indian.the crime of juggling with evidence n justice is more heinous than murder.this is a chance for us all to stand united against injustice n a win for jessica will go a long way in bringing about a change in our system.please let us all for once rise against this.

Being a lady of 50 years, I can only say it’s a matter of shame for Indians that we are not even capable of punishing a murderer of a innocent lady. I am ashamed to talk about this matter where justice is not granted even after 7 yrs of the crime. This is very sad a murder which has taken place in 1999 and no justice till now. Criminals are moving around freely the justice is so biased. This is a clear indication that the Rich can get away very easily. All the 9 accused have been acquitted..

The Jessica Lal case judgment is an obvious case of miscarriage of justice. When this happens, the Judiciary cannot preside knowing full well that the process of law to implement justice is sometimes flawed. We would expect then the Judge in the case to pass strictures on the investigating authorities or whoever and/or find a method to ensure that justice is done. Otherwise people with money and influence, translated to the rich, powerful and the politically connected will continue to make a mockery of our judicial system. Would the arbiters and dispensers of Justice in free India prefer to be made a fool of and thus render themselves progressively irrelevant? The time has come for the Judiciary to look at itself and remove itself from the shackles of a centuries old system which has refused to reform itself as evident from the Jessica Lal & numerous similar cases. Apart from justice to Jessica Lal and her family, this case is a symbol of how India treats an independent woman in today's India and guarantees her freedom in thought, word and deed.

This is a total collapse of indian Judiciary. and this we have not seen in Jessica Murder case only. there are more certain instances wherew the rich makes a mokery of judicial system and the suffers are the Middle Class and the poor. Jessica is not been given the due justice. The rich with political connections has played with the judiciary.

My dear countryme,

I love you all. You are the great citizens of India. I am proud of you. You have launched a campaign. There is a great solidarity among all. Capitalise on this unprecedented surge of emotional bondage. This may be the beginning of another freedom movement- freedom from the mental slavery- freedom from the brown sahibs- freedom from the corrupt netas- freedom from the goons and mafias. This will be a new beginning. It will be an intellectual awakening. Let us all pledge to day, "We shall ensure justice to Jessica and to her family. We shall fight the system. We shall protect the legacy of the freedom fighters who have given us the freedom. Let us assure Sabrina that we are all with us. f she needs any financial help, let us all contribute and create a fund, 'Justice for Jessica Fund.' This will be victory of the people of India. Let no one in future buy justice and make a mockery of the justice howsoever powerful they are. We do not want any tokenism by the government or the police. We want immediate warrant against all those who are involved in the crime, who abetted in the crime by removing the evidence, who helped the culprits by giving them shelter and the witnesses who changed their version. Supreme Court should order retrial in a fast track court. In the meanwhile the accused should be under judicial custody. We want nothing less than that the truth prevails as engraved in the emblem' satyamev jayte'

Dear Honorable President

You are very much aware that Justice delayed is justice denied, can you please tell me for what sake was the case pending for about 6-7 years? When the witnesses were present and we had firm eveidences why was the act not done by the court then and there...what was the point in taking seven years for a judgement? Don’t you think so as if it is planned to give sufficient time to the witness to become hostile, to tamper the evidence, to exchange the cartridge??? Why we have to raise this issue to the president, just to get Justice?? Shouldn't it be the obvious outcome?

Thanks to the media which made Jessica Lal case is a popular one so its getting such large & huge public support.

This is my request to you that the witnesses should be strictly punished. The police officers involved should be straightaway hanged. We should have a zero tolerance system for the police and a separate law dealing with corrupt police officials. At least make sure Manu Sharma & all his associates along with their highly influential relatives should be hanged till death.

It is great disgace to us Indains that 'Bhayanak judge Bhayana' has been sworne in as high court judge. We have just had a foretaste of the kind of justice we can expect from the High court.

It should come as no surprise to anyone if there are more cases settled by affected individuals themselves rather than hoping for justice from any court in India.

dear Mr President,
i m a 16yr old boy from delhi and in the coming years ,it will be our job to represent India to the world...we are India's Tommorrow... some ppl walk into a Party ,shoot one model at Point Blank Range infront of 200 ppl and get away with it...and then open a nightclub in chandigarh and goa...ALL THANX TO THE INDIAN JUDICIARY SYSTEM...
what explaination can be given for this..?/
When tommorrow i will face a simillar situation, when tommorow i will need to go to the court, when tommorow something unlawfull will happen to me ,then i will prefer to take the LAW in my own Hands then hand it over to the judiciary which prohibits any Politician's relative from Penalty....
You can save this country from Becoming a "Palestine/Iran/Iraq" where simillar things happen everyday and the lawmakers/judiciary/police are the citizens themselves...
I humbly Request you to re-open the case..
Thank You,
Aniket
